I'm About to Lose It - Part 2
I just got into work, and the first thing I hear from my co-worker is, "I just saw a rat in the lounge! Yep, mmmm hmmmm, a rat. Saw it with my own eyes."

Not a mouse, a rat.

Okay, well, the employee lounge is also in the Plaza. The soda machine in said lounge has been out of order for a week or so. Yeah, we found out the rats chewed through the lines. Apparently rat feces was found in one of our ice containers, too. When I got to my desk, a coffee mug I left there was turned over. I think a rat did it.

WHAT THE FUCK. I'm this close to going home.

Edited: The pest guys just moved a ceiling tile, and two more roaches fell out. Not on my desk thank god, but still....

ROTFL... "I think a rat did it"

:) Thanks for the laugh this morning! LOL... (but I do feel bad about all these critters you have to work with!)

make a formal complaint.
in writing, through hr.
then don't stir it up in the office.
just let them handle it.

Sometimes, in a big corp/firm, they don't know this stuff (they meaning the ones who can actually do something about it) because people are afraid to say anything for fear of their job.

do it right
make NO ultimatims
and don't stand around talking about it all day.
if you want to continue to work there.
otherwise, brush up the resume and get out of that hell hole.

((cyber hugs)) ewwwwwwww, I'm so sorry you're going through this.

You need to file a complaint. That is simply unacceptable.

Here is the email I sent to the people in my group, including senior partners:

"Do not eat or get drinks from the Plaza lounge. A rat (not a mouse) was spotted in there this morning. The soda machine has been broken and it turns out that a rat chewed through the lines. They found rat poop in one of the ice containers (not the ice machine) and rat hair on the soda spout. Also, the people who work down there have had a lot of problems with roaches falling from the ceiling onto their desks.

I really can't believe the firm makes people work in those conditions. Something should be done."

Hopefully, that will get the word out, because no one on the higher floors knows about the problem.

Oh my god and you work there! Fuck that I would be going home! What does your boss say?

Come to Big D. We are rodent free.

Rats don't have fur on their tails, mice do. Now you can make a positive ID next time you see one. :)

Gross. Gross. Gross

That is truly unacceptable. Next time any critter drops anywhere near you scream bloody murder for a long time... If you do that everytime, people might do something just to get you to be quiet. :)
((hugs))

Good job, Dunkin!

Isn't this some kind of OSHA violation or some other kind of agency violation??? I think someone should call the health department and report that deli!

I think you should ask L and Thad for combat pay.

Really.

Just do it.

BTW, remember how I said I was leaving to raise my kids? Yeah, it's 'cause of the rats and roaches thing. Sorry.

Yuck. OMG. Come around Monday for my rat post. :)

I hope you're at least getting Hazard pay?
My snake could take care of those rats for ya...

Are you sure you aren't on a hidden camera show?

Unreal!

I think I might see someone about filing a complaint for an unhealthy work environment. There is no way that should be allowed.......ick........

Ewwwww!

How'd they get that bad in the first place? Isn't there some health regulation that covers these kids of things?

Ewwwww!

Ok. All of those things REALLY need to be addressed. Its a poor reflection on your place of work and how much they value their employees. I'm with the Dunkin. Maybe the higher ups have no idea? If not, yeah, brushing up the resume sounds like a very good idea.
