So Meritt was correct in her comments on my last post. The mortgage company applied my 12/28 payment as an additional payment on the principle. Why? Who knows. Hopefully, this is the last of it, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hope it IS all fixed. Because it sucks having to deal with those people more than you absolutely have to.

I wonder if they thought you were trying to weasel in more interest payment in '05 for tax purposes. But then, that's a smart computer.
But... on the flip side I'd LOVE to apply an entire 'extra' payment to the principal! LOL.

sometimes mortage companies will assume a double payment in december is principle. for some dumb tax reason you can claim interest on 13 payments or less. not sure why they would have applied it to principle then, but just wanted to add my 2 cents.
