I'm going to get on my soapbox for just a minute. I hate hunting. All hunting. I don't get it and I never will. I've had a good 30 years to think about this. Well, apparently Troy Lee Gentry of the country group Montgomery Gentry bought a bear named Cubby for $4650, put it in a pen, and shot and killed it with a bow and arrow. Like I said before, I don't like ANY kind of hunting, but this is especially bad. It's not really hunting if the bear is in a PEN. To me, this just says he likes to kill stuff. And that's scary. The great part is, he tried to pass it off as a wild bear, and now he's in deep doo doo. If he's convicted, faces five years in federal prison and a $20,000 fine. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and Troy? Let's see how you like being hunted in "the pen" (Ha! Did you catch that pun?? I slay myself!)

That's even worse than a "canned hunt"...like shooting fish in a barrel. Beyond contemptible.
I read this earlier today as well. And that he tried to have the video of the kill 'doctored' so it would look cool to all his friends like he shot a wild bear.

Well I'm all for fair chase hunting, but I agree that shooting fish in a barrel is bad and should be outlawed. There are alot of stories like this every year. Not any game or sport to it. Free range hunting though I am surely for.

Don't get me started on subjects like this...it is not a pretty sight. You have tapped into my biggest soapbox topic here. 1. I hate hunting period. 2. I depise the hunting reserve hunts. 3. This guy needs to be put in a cage and shot. I am not joking. This is as bad (or worse) than the internet hunting that was in the news a year or so ago.
Seriously, if you want to see me passionate about something, talk to me about this in person. I can't even write about it anymore here because I am so fucking annoyed.
I agree. Hunting is totally and completely useless. I can't imagine deriving any "fun" or "sport" from killing an animal. Unless it's a roach or a rat and then I'm all for it.

I don't get it either. Hunting is just awful. If we didn't have grocery stores and people had to hunt for food with bows and arrows, then fine. But there's no need for it these days (aside from population control - which is another disturbing idea) and it just makes me sick. Especially stories like this.

I heard about that what a moron! I can not believe the ass did that. I am not a hunter but I dont really have a view on it. I know it is not for me, but purchasing an animal and killing it is just horrible and I hope he gets it in the pen.

I was LIVID when I heard about that. What a small-dicked bastard. I am going to refrain from going off on a diatribe about it, but I too hate hunting, even more so when it's a situation like this.

You know SD is a hunter but that is just wrong.
As a matter of fact SD didn't like the idea of hunting in TX because you can bait and use high powered rifles.
