Letter #2 to my Dear Husband
This is just for Mean Coffee since she specifically requested a new post.

Dear My Love-

I know you don't cook very often---neither do I. We truly prefer to eat out or order in. I am fully aware of your love of all things pizza. You're not picky, you'll eat Mr. Gatti's or Papa John's, and you even love a good Digiorno cooked at home in our oven.

That being said, when you choose to cook a pizza at home, I must ask you to never, never, never use a pizza cutter on THE NEW CALPHALON COOKIE SHEET. We have a perfectly good pizza stone. I know the fucker is heavy, but you're a strong guy. I feel quite certain you have no problems lifting it. I was very sad when I pulled out the cookie sheet to bake cookies and it had cut marks all over it. You don't want to make me sad do you? I didn't think so.

I love you. Now next time, use some common sense.

Love,
Your Darling Wife

Happy Thanksgiving
I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, full of family, friends and food. I have met so many cool people through blogging, and I'm thankful for all of you.

I'm also thankful for my wonderful husband:

I know you're probably sick of hearing about him, but he's just the coolest. We're going to his Grandmother's for lunch and my parents for dinner. I'm going to be one stuffed gal!!!

I'm also very thankful for my family. They really are the best. My mom doesn't cook a turkey because my sister and I don't eat meat. She's very accommodating and never complains!! So if you want to see some funny pictures of me and my sister, check out her blog. They really are classics. I'm wearing my favorite Units outfit in the second photo!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Um...Okay...
I read this on The Superficial, which is a hilarious blog BTW. It's disturbing yet hilarious. I can't wait to see who finds my blog after this post. Enjoy:

Ricky Martin likes to pee on people
He's been accused of being gay and being straight and being all sorts of other things, but I don't ever recall rumors of him peeing on people, which makes it all the more strange that he would bring it up in an interview.

Ricky Martin told fans perhaps a little more about his sex life than some wanted to know. “I love giving the golden shower,” he told Blender. “I’ve done it before in the shower. It’s like so sexy, you know, the temperature of your body and the shower water is very different.”

I'm just going to assume that his limited grasp of the English language caused him to say something he didn't mean to say. Not because I don't believe it, but because the thought of Ricky Martin peeing on people in the shower makes me want to stab myself in the face.

Open Letter to Senders of Urban Legends
Dear You-Who-Doesn't-Flash-Their-Headlights-for-Fear-of-Being-Shot,

For the love of God, please, please, please check www.snopes.com to see if the email forward you are about to send me is true or false. If it's true, please send it my way. If it is false, however, do not send it to me. To be honest, I don't really care about most strangers or what happened to their mom's friend's sister, and I don't believe that pictures of clouds in a cornfield were pictures of Katrina rolling into New Orleans or that if I heat my food up in tupperware I'm going to get breast cancer. You are wasting my time and I'm a busy gal.

Thanks,
Nappy

P.S. There is some truth to the "hydroplaning while using cruise control in the rain" email, but I've already looked that one up so no need to send that one again. I'm good.

I Love Shopping....and Joaquin
I got my highlights today...nothing fancy, just a few to brighten things up a bit. I also decided to do a little shopping since a certain store by my house was having a huge sale. I got a red velvet jacket, a red sparkly holiday party shirt, silver chandelier earrings (cheaper than I could have made them), a casual purse, and a prude-ish librarian sweater (think Grease). Now I have to get rid of some stuff that I never wear.

My sister and I saw Walk the Line last night. SO GOOD. Joaquin Phoenix was amazing. I was worried about Reese Witherspoon, but she was fantastic too. Not to mention she got to mug down with Joaquin. Speaking of Joaquin....his voice was great, and his smoldering gaze was entrancing. He captured Johnny Cash's undying love for June Carter so well. Sigh. He really is a great actor. He's come a long way since he went by Leaf and starred in Parenthood.

SPF - Representations
Kristine at Random and Odd wants us to post the following:

Something that represents your past, something that represents your present & something that represents your future.

My life with my husband is my past, present, and future, so I'm only posting one picture. We have gone from living the rockstar lifestyle (okay, sort of) to living together to being an old married couple at ages 28 & 29. I have no idea what the future holds, but we'll be by each others sides (not sure about the grammar on that one), and that's all that matters. I know I'm a big ole cheater, but hey, I'm a newlywed so cut me some slack.

Love you K!

I Have Been Busy
We had a jewelry/art show last night so I didn't get home until after 10, which means I didn't go to sleep until after 11. On Tuesday night, I babysat until 10:45, got home about 11, and made jewelry until about 12 am. Monday night I had my yoga class and I made about 4 necklaces. Anyway, I'm tired and ready for the weekend. Here are some pluses. The weather here is GORGEOUS. Our Thanksgiving luncheon at work is tomorrow---free lunch=good. I'm getting highlights on Saturday, and I haven't had them in ages.

In addition to all of this, I've been working with the lovely and talented Cara on our jewelry business website. She is doing a bang up job. It's going to be beautiful. Plus, she's been really patient with me since I've been so scattered as of late.

I also signed up for a continuing education class called "Intro to Mosaics". I'm really excited and I'll post pictures of my project if it turns out okay.

No WBW Wednesday for me yesterday--I didn't wear sunglasses or glasses until college, and that was the late 90s, so there really wasn't anything to post!

You know what I'm ready for? A nap, you big dummy. I haven't had a nap in AGES and that is not okay with me.

Comfort
We had a great weekend! Comfort is a really cute town with lots of antique and junk shops, and the bed and breakfast where we stayed was really cool. It's not as touristy as Fredericksburg which was nice. I had a lot of fun with my mom and sister, but I forgot to take pictures, so instead, I took a picture of my favorite purchase. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do with it yet, but I love it.

See Ya Sunday
My mom, sister and I are going to Comfort, Texas this weekend to do some Christmas shopping, antiquing and stay in a B&B---some girl time, if you will. Let's hope the rockstar can hold down the fort. Wait, he taught the cat how to use the laptop, so I think they'll be just fine without me.

Stuff Portrait Friday - My First Time
I don't usually do SPF, but I thought what the hell? You only live once, right? Sorry about the blurry pictures.

Last thing I bought for myself: Red toile flannel sheets from Ross for $28. They are soooo comfortable. I really need to stay away from Ross. I always walk out with something I don't need.

Last thing someone bought for me: Two light fixtures. The top one is for the main hallway, the bottom one is a light/fan for the bathroom. These were purchased with the money my dad gave us for the house, so he technically bought them for us.

My wallet: Yes, that's my wallet sitting on a big fat stack of bills.

Hot or Not?
FINAL RULING: 9 HOTS/4 NOTS @ 9:10 pm Thursday

Tammy brought up a good question when I posted the photo of Lou Diamond Phillips the other day - Hot or Not? I say hot because he had a great bod in his cycling clothes, and he was very passionate about the cause. He seemed totally at home hanging with "normal people". Here are more photos to help you with your decision:

Way Back Wednesday - The Great Outdoors

I have done my fair share of camping. We were, in fact, a granola family. There are a TON of camping photos at my parents' house, but none here at my house. That being said, here's what I have to offer:

My sister is on the left (white-ish sheet on her head) and I'm on the right. We are obviously acting out the nativity, complete with baby Jesus in his bed of leaves and stuffed animals for our camels. I don't know what went down before this photo was taken, but I was seriously pissed. This counts for the great outdoors, right? Oh, and I don't think that Mary or Joseph ever sported the sweet kool-aid mustache I have going on...Let me know if you played!

Decision Time
Today I did the Austin Race for the Cure 5K with my friend H (we walked it). They were expecting 19,000 people, and from the looks of things, all 19,000 showed up. It was an incredible sea of people (and dogs) as far as the eye could see in front of and behind us. It filled me with the most amazing feeling of happiness, and I want to do more. I have been in a serious slump lately and it's time to make the decision to get out of it.

So what does this have to do with Lou Diamond Phillips you ask? I'm getting to that.

In April of 2004, my sister and I signed up, trained for and rode in the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. It's an amazing 120 mile, 2-day ride through the VERY hilly countryside. The money that is raised supports multiple agencies that provide vital care and services to thousands of people with HIV/AIDS 365 days a year.

We when we started training, riding 3 miles was hard for me, and the first time we did a 20 mile ride, I thought I was going to die. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look a it), when the ride rolled around, Austin was experiencing torrential rainstorms, so the first day got rained out. We ended up only riding about 60 miles. Lou Diamond Phillips rode the ride though, so that sort of made up for the wet weather. I snapped the photo above at our lunch pit stop. He never knew he had two stalkers sitting just a table away. The ride was amazing, and I have never had such a sense of accomplishment as I did crossing the finish line.

We signed up for the 2005 ride, but then I became really busy trying to plan a wedding. In addition, all the rainy weather kept us from training as much as we needed to (anyone in Austin remember the MONTH of rain we had in November?) So, I am determined to do it next year. I felt a little disappointed that I didn't get to actually "finish" the ride in 2004, and I want to prove to myself that I can do it.

So here it goes. I'm going to ride 120 miles in the 2006 Hill Country Ride for AIDS.

Get ready for a lot of posts about sore muscles (especially a REALLY sore ass that makes it hard to sit down), falling down, sunburns and getting really sick of power bars and gatorade. Oh yeah, I will be soliciting donations, too :) I think I raised somewhere around $800 in 2004, and I want to go over $1000 this year.

I guess I need to get on my bike! It has some serious cobwebs on it.

Wood or Concrete?
My dad just recently retired, and he's generously giving me and my sister a decent chunk of change to use on our houses. I am DYING to get rid of the carpet in the living room. No one with 5 pets should ever, under any circumstances, have carpet. It's just gross. So here's my dilemma.

Wood or stained concrete?

Here's the stain I want:

OR

Both courtesy of this company.

If I get hard woods, I want this look (Brazilian Cherry):

So what do you think? I'm not sure about the dogs and hard woods, but I know a lot of people do it.

Something that Rhymes with Other-in-Slaw
On Sunday night (the night of the infamous cake licking) the rockstar and I had dinner at his mom's house. She wanted to do it Monday night (it was Halloween?), so I said no. She was nice and cooked dinner a day early, and she offered to cook portobello pasta since I don't eat meat.

This all sounds innocent so far. Let me give you a tidbit of background information.

When the rockstar told his mom he was going to propose, she asked if he was sure if I would say yes. She also said something about "what did he have to offer me". Nice. Really nice.

The rockstar is convinced she loves me more than him.

She gave me more money on my b-day than she gave him.

Okay, now that you're all caught up, let me get back to dinner on Sunday. We ate a lovely meal and dessert and moved to the couch where we started a movie. Or so we thought. In the middle of the movie my Other-in-Slaw decides to start talking about how he's not financially stable enough to have a baby (Wait, what? Who's talking babies? We don't want a baby, not anytime soon at least?), and that he can't provide a good living for a family, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. The rockstar, being the great-ignorer-of-all-that-is-annoying says, "What? Were you saying something?"

This did not go over well, not at all.

I heard, under her breath of course, something to the effect of "You're just like your dad, now I know why I got a divorce."

Oh no she dih-ent, but oh yes, she did.

She ALSO said something about how she didn't know how he found someone to marry him.

Ooooops, she did it again. And this time, it was a not-so-subtle jab at me because I DID marry him.

Let me give you some additional background info. My husband works a full time job. He's in retail management. The pay blows. He doesn't have a college degree and that's fine with me. He loves what he does, and he's good at it. This is not okay with his mom. She hates the fact that he didn't finish college, and until he does something she can brag about, nothing is good enough for her.

So this concluded our dinner on Sunday night. HEAPS and BARRELS of laughs. I couldn't get to the car fast enough. This, people, is what I married into.

Way Back Wednesday - I Did It! I Did It!

I just got home from babysitting those awesome kids I told you about awhile back, and I actually remembered Way Back Wednesday for once. This week we're supposed to do show and tell----that one picture that we've passed over other weeks. Well I have two. One sweet, one funny.

Sweet first.

This is my mom and me in 1977, so that makes me about a year old depending on what month it was when this was taken (and since it's Texas, who's to say).

I just love the clothes and we both look really happy. Dang, I was a chunk.

So now for the funny. I don't have a whole lot of Halloween photos, but here is one from last year. This is me (some sort of weird cat/maid costume purchased last minute at Target) and my friend B from college. He's Lil Jon in case you were wondering. Yup, bedazzled chalice and all. Dang, could my face BE any shinier? Mean Coffee, I TOLD you I know all about chicken face.

So those are my random show and tell photos. Let me know if you played and I'll stop by and take a look!
